Season Program finalised

The mooted extra grade has been put on ice for now, following a recent meeting of the Association where clubs indicated their likely team nominations.

Team nominations are close to being known with 7 teams expected for Second Grade, 8 or 9 teams in Third Grade and 7 teams for Centenary Cup. We expect to be able to announce teams by early next week.

The competition program (look under Fixtures on our home page) has also been finalised with the Second Grade competition to consist of a regular season of 18 weeks where teams will play 14 one day matches and 2 x T20 matches.

The Third Grade regular season will be 15 weeks in duration, while the Centenary Cup competition starts a week later than other grades and will have 14 rounds before finals.

In Centenary Cup, the requirement to have a certain number of players aged under 19 has been scrapped to provide clubs more leeway in which grade they select such players.

Dates for the women’s T20 competition have been set with the 3-team competition consisting of 9 rounds and a final.

The social women’s competition is also likely to increase team numbers from the 17 teams last season.

The Colts competition appears unlikely to run this season, with the Committee to look at it again once the season has commenced.

In other good news the new wider pitch at Brendon Sturgeon Oval has been built and expected to be ready early in the season.
