With the season fast approaching and the Association now having a clearer picture of expected team numbers for each grade, some adjustments have been made to the season program.
The Third Grade competition is now planned to commence on 18 October, along with the Fourth Grade (Centenary Cup) competition. Both grades are expected to have 7 or 8 teams each, with the competitions to be played over 14 rounds.
The separate T20 competitions will start on 13 December, a week earlier than originally planned, with 10 January now a general bye for both grades. The Final of these competitions will be played on 24 January at Wade Park before the regular grade competitions resume the following Saturday.
The 6-team Second Grade competition gets underway on 11 October and will be played across 20 rounds. The T20 double header has been confirmed for 20 December with all matches to be played at Sir Jack Brabham Park and for the same points as one day matches.
In all grades, the top 4 teams will qualify for finals, which will again be played across 3 weeks. The Association has reintroduced the Sunday as a reserve day for the grand final which will only be utilised if play is unable to start on the Saturday.
The latest season program can be found under Fixtures on the main menu of the ODCA website.
The draws for each grade are expected to be released in the next 10 days once teams are confirmed. The draws for the separate T20 competitions for 3rd Grade and 4th Grade held over December and January will be finalised towards the end of November.
The Rules and Playing Conditions for this season are also now available on the website, with changes from last season shown in red.
In other news, there hasn’t been enough interest from clubs for a Colts competition for this season, so that competition will remain in hibernation for another season.
